Mission Statement
Coaching coaches to glorify God by being more Christlike… on and off the field
We want to bring glory to God by enabling coaches to coach other coaches, and redefining what success looks like through gospel centered GRIT.
Our Goal
The goal of GRIT is to create a place for coaches to grow in their faith, on their time, life-giving and uniquely designed for coaches. Our hope is to build a network of coaches that have GRIT ingrained into their coaching philosophy. When coaches want to connect with other coaches, in the pursuit of being a more impactful coach on and off the field— they’ll look to GRIT. Join with us in that mission, and contact us to get started today.
Our Story
Travis Labhart
Connor Nichols
At the beginning of 2022 Travis Labhart was working in pharmaceuticals as a sales rep and was looking to get back into the sports world that was a major part of his life growing up. Growing up in the small town of Whitesboro, Texas he was awarded the opportunity to play many sports and learn from many different coaches. A former Texas A&M graduate and football player, Travis also went onto play in the NFL for the Houston Texans. Coaches impacted him throughout his tenure of athletics and was always something that he aspired to be.
Connor Nichols similarly grew up in small town Celina, Texas and was a multi-sport athlete, successful in football, baseball, basketball, and track. Throughout his athletic journey Connor experienced the impacts of coaches and the lasting impact they had on his life. Connor is too, a Texas A&M graduate and has been a successful entrepreneur throughout his professional journey.
GRIT began just as a thought and prayerful consideration. Starting as a simple discussion and thinking through how coaches could be cared for and how to serve them as they serve students, athletes, communities, and their own families. Coaches put in incredible amounts of hours into their job. Not only do they coach, they are teachers, community leaders, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, and are often only evaluated for their performance on gameday. The life of a coach is challenging, often tumultuous, lonely and guarded.
Our process at GRIT is to come alongside coaches and support them through their calling that God has ordained in their lives. Supporting them by encouraging, equipping, and challenging them to see their kingdom calling in a way that redefines what their performance looks like and focusing on the narrative of who Gods says they are, rather than who man does.
How to Support
GRIT is a nonprofit ministry and is fully funded by the help of you who are looking to advance the gospel right here in your communities. God’s word in Matthew 6:20 says “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” and we believe that each person can have an opportunity in this mission by partnering with us in raising the funds to impact coaches all across the world.
It has been said that, “You can’t take it with you— but you can send it on ahead.” and at GRIT ministries that is our proposal. Send ahead and store your treasures in heaven by partnering with us in advancing the gospel, and impacting the lives of coaches who are having one of the greatest impacts on the youth today.
